Blockout curtains offer maximum light and noise reduction and give the best insulation properties in a curtain. There are many different fabric options to suit the styling in your home.
There are two basic types of blockout curtains:
1. Blockout coated – This is a face fabric which has undergone a coating process of rubber and polymer which is fused dry through heating rolling. Coated curtains are generally a more affordable option compared to a lined blockout curtain.
2. Blockout lined – This is a face fabric that has a separate blockout fabric attached at the heading, the double layer creates maximum heat insulation and light adsorption.
The difference between the two blockout options is primarily the drape factor – a coated curtain will never be able to compete against a lined curtain as far as the general drape and fall of the curtain.
Manufactures are working on perfecting a softer feel to a coated fabric but a lined curtain will always have a better drape and feel.
