Can Somfy® motorised blinds be controlled by a smartphone?
Yes. Available for both Android and iOS operating systems, the Somfy® myLink smartphone app gives you the flexibility to raise and lower your blinds from anywhere in your space, at any time. Enjoy light and privacy control at your fingertips.
How many remote controls are required?
The number of remote controls required depends on the amount of motorised blinds you are installing and your preferences for simultaneous control.
We typically advise using a single channel remote control if a room has only one motorised blind. For larger spaces with numerous motorised blinds, a multi-channel remote may be more fitting. Therefore, our customers tend to opt for several remote controls for use throughout their home or office.
Even if you’re planning to operate the motorised blinds with voice control or your smartphone, we advise purchasing at least one remote control. As well as being essential for the initial setup, this device is a useful addition for guests.
Can you use a universal remote control for motorised blinds?
Yes. It is possible to sync several blinds with a universal remote. If you wish to use the same device for multiple motorised blinds, please let our team know during your free consultation. We’ll confirm whether this is possible depending on the number of electric blinds to operate and the distance between them.
Will motorised blinds work in a power outage?
If your local area is subject to frequent power outages, then we suggest choosing battery-powered motors for your blinds so that they can continue to operate without mains electricity.
Is it possible to retrofit existing roller blinds with Somfy® motors?
In most cases, yes. Depending on the manufacturer, you can make almost any existing blinds motorised with a Somfy® system.

How are motorised blinds best maintained?
Motorised blinds are low maintenance, with few extra measures required compared to manual alternatives.
Clean these blind just as you would if non-motorised, using a gentle mix of water and mild soap or with regular dusting, depending on the chosen fabric.
To prolong the motor’s lifespan and prevent any issues, make sure to operate it in line with the manufacturer’s manual. Additionally, always keep the bottom rail free from obstructions whilst operating.
